{"id":3252,"date":"2011-06-10T17:37:46","date_gmt":"2011-06-11T00:37:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nocapx2020.info\/?p=3252"},"modified":"2011-06-10T17:42:03","modified_gmt":"2011-06-11T00:42:03","slug":"bill-luther-thinks-hes-special","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nocapx2020.info\/?p=3252","title":{"rendered":"Bill Luther thinks he&#8217;s special&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Amazing, truly amazing&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Today at the PUC agenda meeting to address the route permit for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.capx2020.com\/Projects\/project_fargo-stcloud.html\"><strong>CapX 2020 Fargo to St.\u00c2\u00a0 Cloud<\/strong><\/a> transmission line, and the Commission did grant the permit, accepting for the most part the ALJ&#8217;s Recommendation, including &#8220;Route G&#8221; on the Sauk Centre to St. Cloud part, with some suggested changes from MOES:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a href=\"https:\/\/nocapx2020.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/recommendation-20114-61700-01.pdf\">ALJ&#8217;s Recommendation<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nocapx2020.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/briefingpapers-20115-63028-01.pdf\">Briefing Papers &#8211; Recommendation<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>We&#8217;ll see just exactly which of MOES alterations they took up when the written order comes out in a couple of weeks (? before the state shutdown?)<\/p>\n<p>During the public comment period after oral arguments, former Rep. Bill Luther strolls in and requests that the line be moved a few sections to the west, or if not, then to the east around the scenic easement on the other side of the highway, to get around his family&#8217;s farm.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 Really!\u00c2\u00a0 Where&#8217;s he been all this time?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nocapx2020.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/billluther.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3254\" title=\"billluther\" src=\"https:\/\/nocapx2020.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/billluther.jpg\" alt=\"billluther\" width=\"92\" height=\"98\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Bill Luther?\u00c2\u00a0 Yes, that Bill Luther.\u00c2\u00a0 And after his behavior today, I&#8217;m sure glad he isn&#8217;t my Rep. here in the 2nd District! (not that I&#8217;m any fan of John Kline, nope, no way, no how)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nocapx2020.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/luther.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3255\" title=\"luther\" src=\"https:\/\/nocapx2020.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/luther.jpg\" alt=\"luther\" width=\"180\" height=\"135\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It appears he&#8217;s working at Teleplus Consulting, and here&#8217;s how they &#8220;bill&#8221; him on their site:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.teleplusconsulting.com\/expertise.htm\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Bill Luther <\/span><\/em>\u00e2\u20ac\u201c Regulatory Specialist.  Prior to joining  Teleplus in March 2003, Bill served four terms in the United States  Congress representing Minnesota.  Bill served on the House Sub-Committee  on Telecommunications, and is an expert in regulatory affairs.  Bill is  also an accomplished attorney.<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nocapx2020.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/billluthersland.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3253\" title=\"billluthersland\" src=\"https:\/\/nocapx2020.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/billluthersland.jpg\" alt=\"billluthersland\" width=\"608\" height=\"354\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nocapx2020.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/billluthersland.jpg 608w, https:\/\/nocapx2020.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/billluthersland-300x174.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 608px) 100vw, 608px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>He pointed to this map, pointed out the &#8220;Luther Century Farm&#8221; on the NE  corner of Section18 and the green triangle directly above it in Section  7, and said, &#8220;you should put it east of the highway there, between the  scenic easement and wildlife area,&#8221; and getting a less than enthusiastic  response, &#8220;well, you could just move it over a couple sections to the  west, and go down the railroad track&#8221; and &#8230; let me see if I understand this correctly, on the day of deliberation, you want the route changed?\u00c2\u00a0 I wanted to jump up and  scream, &#8220;WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN?&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0 Get real&#8230; he&#8217;s in a better  position than most to deal with something like this, and it was always  planned to go down Interstate 94 in that area, so he first got notice&#8230;  when&#8230; in July 2007?\u00c2\u00a0 He got other notices when???\u00c2\u00a0 As Cupit would say Overland would say, &#8220;Give me a break!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Commissioner O&#8217;Brien jumped in (on his behalf?), asking MOES&#8217; David Birkholz to answer his question, &#8220;Should we address this now or later.&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0 Birkholz rightly noted that the options he raised were not considered in the process, there was no notice to landowners, so it&#8217;s appropriate to grant the permit as it is.\u00c2\u00a0 Luther seemed to just stand there frozen in time, expecting them instead to say, &#8220;Oh, well, in that case, we&#8217;re oh-so-sorry, nevermind, it&#8217;s all a misunderstanding, don&#8217;t you worry, we&#8217;ll take it off YOUR land, and we&#8217;ll stick it over THERE instead!&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0 Ja&#8230; sure&#8230; whatever&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>He ended with a bit of a threat, that he wanted to &#8220;bring this to your attention now, rather than later.&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0 Earth to Bill Luther, this IS later.\u00c2\u00a0 Once more with feeling, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN THE LAST FOUR YEARS?&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0 Sure, we can address this later, the appellate court would get a chuckle out of this one!\u00c2\u00a0 The sad part is there&#8217;s probably some lawyer ready to take a lot of his money and pursue that one one!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Amazing, truly amazing&#8230;
