This week and next — ATC is holding open houses for its Badger-Coulee line this week and next!
\nApril 17-19 and 24-26! Got that? Mark your calendars.<\/p>\n

It’s all part of the bigger plan, the WIREs line stretching from the Twin Cities to Madison – click on it for a larger map, and check the SE part, the blue solid and dashed line:<\/p>\n

\"Hearing<\/a><\/p>\n

American Transmission Company<\/strong><\/a><\/span> is pushing what they call the “Badger Coulee” transmission line from LaCrosse to Madison, and are hosting open houses<\/strong><\/a><\/span> across western Wisconsin over the next two weeks:<\/p>\n

The public is invited to attend any of the following open houses:<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

April 17, Stoney Creek Inn and Conference Center, Onalaska
\nApril 18, Ettrick Elementary School, Ettrick
\nApril 19, Three Bears Lodge, Warrens
\nApril 24, Waunakee Village Center, Waunakee
\nApril 25, Wintergreen Resort & Conference Center, Wisconsin Dells
\nApril 26, Norwalk Community Center, Norwalk<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Open houses at all locations run from 1 to 7 p.m.<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Yesterday’s was in Onalaska, and CETF was there in good form, complete with balloon to give people an idea of what 120 foot transmission structures looks like (and I hope they’ll get another 80 feet of string for those 200 foot transmission towers):<\/p>\n

And an appearance by Xcel Energy, apparently ATC wanted Xcel present to answer questions about CapX, so Hilly was tapped for yesterday:<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, as noted in a recent post, the Xcel Energy v. ATC fight at FERC<\/span><\/strong><\/a> continues.<\/p>\n

Here’s the route they’re looking at (click for larger map):<\/p>\n

\"openhouse3preliminaryroutemapmailingwithoh1\"<\/a>A fundamental part of this is that the studies all show that by bringing the radial 345 kV line to La Crosse, the system MUST have an extension to Madison to link in to the 345kV system or they’ve got instability problems:<\/p>\n
