Hampton Substation<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Highway 52 and 215th Street (N. of Hwy. 50)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

This project has been 12 years of my life\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 first got wind of it in 2004 at a MAPP NM-SPG meeting, though really, it was apparent with the release of the WIREs-WRAO Report from 1998<\/strong><\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 That was 18 years ago.\u00c2\u00a0 Transmission is not rocket science!\u00c2\u00a0 As we say, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s all connected!\u00e2\u20ac\u009d\u00c2\u00a0 Oh, but wait… for the purposes of the Minnesota Certificate of Need proceeding, we couldn’t connected all the dots, and the CapX folks insisted that it only went to La Crosse!!!\u00c2\u00a0 Oh, please…<\/p>\n

Anyway, the planed shindig was reported in the Rochester Post Bulletin:<\/p>\n

FYI, Tim Carlsgaard<\/strong>, another knowledgeable Xcel\/CapX spokesman, says they hope to turn the juice on this month for the section from Hampton to Pine Island, along U.S. 52.<\/em><\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n

“To celebrate the completion of the entire 156-mile line, we are hosting an event on Sept. 26 at the Hampton substation,” Tim said by email. “This will be a good opportunity for you to come out of the closet. I have attached an invitation … I look forward to seeing you.”<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Nice try, Tim. My identity is a<\/a> more closely guarded secret<\/a> than Colonel Sanders’<\/strong> recipe. But if you’d like to send me a piece of cake, I can’t stop you.<\/a><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Have messages in to both Tim Carlsbad and Grant Stevenson, but the timing is top secret, no invitation is forthcoming, so I guess I’ll just have to crash.\u00c2\u00a0 Tom Hillstrom quit, went to Met Council, and is now back with Xcel as contractor, is he in on this?\u00c2\u00a0 Better check with “Hilly” too!<\/p>\n

Where’s the Hampton substation?\u00c2\u00a0 As you approach from the south on Hwy. 52, north of Hwy. 50, there’s this ugly Corten steel “Gateway to the Metro” of transmission towers, with the Hampton on the west side, at 215th Street — can’t miss it:<\/p>\n
